How to Navigate & Use the PFS APP

DOWNLOAD APP

First, navigate to the PFS APP page on the Pixel Film Studios website. You can locate it (here). 

Next, place the PFS APP into the cart and check out.  

Once the PFS APP is on your account, navigate to your downloads page of your PFS Account.  

Click “Download” 

 INSTALL THE PFS APP

Now that you have the PFS APP downloaded, double click on the .DMG file. A popup window should appear with the PFS APP icon and the Applications folder icon.

In the popup window, drag the PFS APP icon into the Applications folder icon. Then, close the popup window.

Next, select the Finder in the dock. Then, navigate to your Applications folder. Path: MAC HD > Applications > PFS APP

Double click the PFS APP application to open it. A pop up box will appear asking for you to allow permissions for the app to perform functions in the Finder. Click OK.

A login window should appear asking for your email and password. In this window, enter your login information for the Pixel Film Studios website. 

My Products

Install Single Products

Click MY PRODUCTS on the left side of the app.

A menu with all of your PFS Products will appear on the screen.

Locate the plugin you want to install.

Tip: You can use the search bar at the top to search for a specific plugin, or scroll through your list of plugins to locate a purchased product. 

Click the green “Install” button on the right side of the product information.

Tip: There is a progress bar at the top of the app that shows the progress of your installation. 

Wait until the installation button says “Installed.” Then, you can navigate to the plugin in FCP.

Tip: There is a small selection of icons below the product that have the symbol for titles/ generators/ effects/ transitions. The highlighted icon will be where you can locate the plugin in Final Cut Pro.  

Install Mega Packs

Click MY PRODUCTS on the left side of the App.

Locate the plugin you wish to install. In this example, we will use (plugin name here).

Next to the mega pack, click “Install All” to set up an automatic queue of installations for all included items of this mega pack.

Once finished, the product will change to “All Installed” on the button in the app.

Note: You can also install mega pack plugins individually by clicking the arrow icon to the left of the product to expand it. A list of all included plugins in the mega pack in the drop down. Next, click the install button to the plugin of your choosing from the app. 

Download Composite products

Click MY PRODUCTS on the left side of the PFS APP.  

Select the Arrow next to the composite product on the left of the box image to expand the section. This will bring up a drop down showing every item that comes with the composite footage plugin.

Notice that the composite icon is different. For composite footage, the download will have a film strip icon. This composite footage will be downloaded to your Movies > PFS Composite Folder.

Select Install All. This will download all the PFS Composite footage that comes with the plugin.

Click on the box with 3 dots next to the footage and select SHOW IN FINDER if you wish to locate a specific file. It should open a finder window that takes you to your User > Movies > PFS-Composite Folder.

UNINSTALL PLUGINS

Next to the installed plugin or mega pack, click the 3 dot box. A small drop down menu will appear. 

In the drop down options, click Uninstall. This will remove the plugin from your Final Cut Pro. You can reinstall the plugin at any time. 

UPDATE PLUGINS

When a plugin has a content update, a red dot will appear over the 3 dot button on the right side of the plugin. 

Click the button with 3 dots. Then select update. 

Wait for the update to complete. The progress bar at the top will indicate the progress of the download. 

Once done, the plugin will no longer have a red dot and show as ‘installed.’  

REWARDS COUPONS

When purchasing from our site, you can get rewards coupons that give you discounts on future purchases. To access these, click the MY REWARDS tab.

Under my rewards, you will see a progress bar showing how much you have spent towards the next reward.

Each reward coupon becomes available with every $100 spent on our site. For example, the $10 reward becomes unlocked at $100 spent on the site. This continues up to $1000 spent, for a reward of $100. 

You can click the copy button next to the code to copy to clipboard. Then, you can use it on your order under the “Coupon” section on the top of the checkout page.

FCPX TUTORIALS

Our library of Final Cut Pro Tutorials can be accessed in the FINAL CUT PRO TUTORIALS section of the PFS APP. Under this tab, you have access to the full playlist of our FCPX tutorial youtube videos, which go over everything from navigating Final Cut and setting up a project to more advanced editing techniques. Please check these out if you’re interested in learning more about how to use Final Cut Pro!   

ACCOUNT SETTINGS

Under Account Settings, you can see a few helpful features. 

At the top, you can see Profile details, such as your username, and PFS Email. In the app, you can select EDIT to change this information. Or, click LOG OUT if you want to log out of the app 

The next section is the App Version section. Here, you can see what version of the app you have installed is, and if you have an update available for the PFS APP. At the very bottom left is a CLEAR CACHE button. This button can be used for troubleshooting purposes if your PFS APP appears to be displaying products incorrectly, or if you need to refresh it after you have just purchased a new product. The MY PRODUCTS button will become temporarily greyed out while it refreshes the Cache. On the bottom right, you will see a button labeled FXRUN. If you are seeing a red screen on your products in Final Cut Pro, you can use this to help reset the applications used to run the plugin and help solve a red screen. With Final Cut Pro Closed, click the blue FXRUN button. You may see some icons flash on your Dock. In some cases, a couple of pop up windows may appear. If any windows appear, you can close them out and remove them from your dock. These windows are just to show that specific applications have been activated on your device to run the plugin. Next, you can reopen Final Cut Pro to check the plugins.
