FCPX Maps is the only product in our library that requires additional steps after installation in order to complete set up. You will need to have a free mapbox account in order to use this plugin. You must also have Final Cut Pro 10.7 and MacOS Sonoma 14.0 minimum to use this plugin.

Do I need to create a mapbox account?
Yes. FCPX Maps generates map tiles through the use of mapbox.com. You will need to create a free account in order to use this plugin. The free account on mapbox does require you to put in a valid credit card in order to sign up, however, you won't be charged unless you exceed the free tile limit per month on their site. You can sign up for an account here:

When would I be charged from Mapbox?
You can view Mapbox's pricing guide here:
https://www.mapbox.com/pricing
Our plugin uses Vector Tiles API in order to generate tiles. Built into our plugin we list the current pricing structure that Mapbox has though their prices are subject to change. We do not have control over their pricing, however, it is unlikely you will ever get close to passing their free tile limit as most maps would generate only a few hundred tiles.
At this time, you can generate up to 200,000 tiles per month for free. Anything past that and you will be charged.
How do I install this plugin?
Step 1
You can install FCPX Maps through the PFS App or download the individual installer. If you are installing through the PFS App, go to your Account Settings and make sure you are on Current Version: 2.7+. Then, click the Clear Cache button found in your Account Settings.
Once your products have refreshed, you can search for FCPX Maps in the My Products tab. Click the green Install button and once FCPX Maps has installed the PFSMapsV2 app should automatically launch. Then, just click the Instructions button to learn how to apply your Mapbox access token, or click Apply Token if you already have it ready.
Note: If you see FCPX Maps 1.1 instead of FCPX Maps, your cache has not been cleared.
Step 2
Navigate to your Applications folder in Finder to the following location:
Macintosh HD > Applications > Pixel Film Studios > Plugins > PFSMapsV2
Step 3
Launch the PFSMapsV2 app and click the Instructions button to learn how to apply your Mapbox access token, or click Apply Token if you already have it ready. Then, just close the app and launch Final Cut Pro.
