Double Check the Correct FCP Location
First, check if you are checking the correct library for the plugin in FCP, as not all products appear in the Effects, or one single library. Some plugins appear in multiple libraries of FCP.
The FAQ for the product, or the icons underneath the product in the PFS APP, will say where the plugin I supposed to be located in FCP.
Check if you are Missing your Motion Templates
If you still do not see the plugin, you may be missing your appropriate Motion Templates folders, so the plugin did not install properly. Follow the steps below to check if you have your Motion Templates.
- Open a Finder Window.
- Navigate to your MAC HD > User > (Your User) > Movies > Motion Templates
- Locate your Titles / Generators / Effects / Transitions foldersIf you do not have this set of folders, they will need to be created.
- Create empty folders in the Movies folder named: Titles.localized, Generators.localized, Effects.localized, and Transitions.localized.
- Then, reinstall the plugin.
Check if the Motion Templates files have correct user permissions.
- Right click on these 5 folders in your Movies: Motion Templates, Titles, Generators, Effects, Transitions
- Press “Get Info.”
- At the bottom of the window check the “Sharing & Permissions” section
- Make sure your User and Admins have “Read and Write” Permissions
- Click the Padlock, enter your password, and change permissions if they are not set to the correct permissions.
Check if the Motion Templates files are localized.
If the folders are not localized this can cause any items that are installed within not to appear in FCP.
Right click on these 5 folders in your Movies: Motion Templates, Titles, Generators, Effects, Transitions
Press “Get Info.”
In the “Name” section for the folder, check if the names are “(File).localized”. For example “Titles.localized”
If they are not localized, rename the folders so that they are “Motion Templates.localized, Titles.localized, Generators.localized, Effects.localized, or Transitions.localized”
